I bought a scale from walmart for 20 bucks four days ago. I've been noticing that it's been giving me weird readings during the four days so I decided to test it. Today I checked my weight on the scale and it told me I weighed 162 pounds in the nude, and when I put my clothes on the scale read at 164.
Are you putting the scale on hard flooring or carpet? That makes a huge difference, because it determines your weight. If it's on carpet it usually messes it up. If that's not the case try returning it to Walmart and saying that it's defective. They'll just give you another one and send that one back to where it came from.

I couldn't find any for only 10.00, but if you get one at Bed Bath and Beyond you can always use a coupon, you can easily find one for 20% off online. Target has similar ones as BB&B but a few more. I also added a link to the scales at Walmart. Here are the links to 3 places that sell kitchen scales. I bought mine at BB&B. Http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/search/search.aspx/kitchen-scale/?sstr=kitchen+scale&dim=1&nty=1& http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?search_query=kitchen+scale&ic=48_0&Find=Find&search_constraint=0 http://www.target.com/s?keywords=kitchen+scale&searchNodeID=1038576%7C1287991011&ref=sr_bx_1_1&x=0&y=0 Hope you find one that works. You can sign up here, you will get coupons ALL the time. I have so many of them it's ridiculous. EDIT: Sorry, forgot to add the link: http://app.bedbathandbeyond.com/prefs/pref.cfm

digitalkitchenscales.net answers:

Not that i have seen. I got mine on ebay for 25 after shipping and it breaks it way down and can weigh up to 5 pounds. I would tell you just how far but it is in the other room. I know i have weighed down to an 1/8 gram before accurately. Just make sure not to buy the ones that come with weights that have to be calibrated over and over and that it has the tare feature on it oh to find them, i think one of them was dealscali or something like that but i entered in pocket jewelry scales. If you want larger weights and don't care about breaking it down into smaller amounts search for kitchen scales. Sometimes you can get the bigger digitals cheaper than the pocket ones. I have even seen them that look like iphones and cd cases, even like toy cars. But those cost more…like 40 bucks before shipping.

digitalkitchenscales.net answers:

Just go by eye. For a basic veggie soup chop up som onions, carrots and celery or a leek and soften them in a little oil and then add water and bring to the boil and then taste test for salt and you have your stock. Those 3-4 veggies are the 3 main tastes to begin with. From there build your soup with other vegetables, and are great if you have any turkey or ham or other leftovers. Go through the veggie drawer and freezer to see what else can be added and crack open a tin or two of drain veggies. Basically you want it cooked just long enough so all those fresh veggies are just cooked. Tip It is easier to add more of something than finding out there is too much when almost ready.

digitalkitchenscales.net answers:

Split the balls into 3 sets of 5 each. Let's call them set A,B and C. Weighing 1: 1) Weigh set A vs set B If they weigh the same, set C has the different ball,so weighing 2 is set A vs set C to establish whether the odd ball is light or heavy. If they're different, weigh the heavier set against set C. If C is lighter, then the odd ball is heavy, othyerwise it's light. Discard the two even sets. Weighing 3 is 2 balls from the odd set vs 2 other balls. If they are the same, then the one in your hand is the odd one out, and you know it's heavy or light If they are different, then take the heavy two, or the light two, depending upon whether the odd one is heavy or light. 4th and final weighing: Weigh 1 against the other. Select the heavy or light one, depending upon whether the odd one is heavy or light QED

digitalkitchenscales.net answers:

Your body weight fluctuates. It could be any number of problems, having to do with the actual scale, or with how you're using it. It could be that you're not doing it at a consistent time every day, or that your body fat actually does fluctuate . I know if you drink a lot of water, it tends to skew your readings. There are other no-no's too, or just things to watch out for. You should find an online help website for your scale, or look your scale up online to see if other people have had this problem. I myself love my body fat scale. I have a weight watchers one that I got from Wal-Mart.

Well … Since not all foods have the same amounts of carbs, you don't convert it directly into cups. You need to look up the carb content of foods, or look at the package (if there is one) There are a lot of sites that will give you carb counts, you can just google for specific ones.

digitalkitchenscales.net answers:

Conversions don't work when you are going from a measurement for weight to one for volume. Now, you are correct that 250g *of water* is equal to 1 cup *of water*, but that doesn't mean that 250g of peanuts will be anywhere equal to 1 cup. If you want to follow the recipes precisely then I suggest going down to Wal-Mart and purchasing a cheap kitchen scale.

Please help me with weight? I came off the scales crying.

Hi, im 14 and last year i went on a diet. I was 13 at the time and i could only fir into a size 16 – 18. I was pretty fat. Im a size 8 – 10 now. I have a few big size 6's in my wardrobe. But im still unhappy with it. Im going on holiday next week and i was planning not to worry about the calories and my mom put me on another diet to try and loose weight before hand. I've been working out a bit. Sunday i went bike riding up a steep hill for a hour. Same as yesterday and today i went swimming for a hour. The lowest weight i've been is 9 st 6. I think i added a few pounds on the wii fit though to be taken off. That was in January. I've relaxed a bit since. The holidays have came and i've pigged put a little bit. but mostly i've kept to my calories. I can't stop counting them, mom tells me ill get fat and regret it. Im 5 ft 6. I've been put on a diet since last october, i lost a bit of weight. I went from 12 st to 9 stone. I just got on the scales in the kitchen and the floor is all lumpy at the moment because of the floor being taken up. It said 10 st 2. I kept trying it and it came up with 10 st 1 then 10 st 3. I got on the Wii fit and it said with 5 pounds taken off because i'd eaten it said 9 st 11. But i feel like crying. Im not going to be able to really enjoy myself on holiday because ill still be counting the calories and my mom will be getting on at me saying ill be fat and everything. Help x Ive had this to eat today : Eating Habits: WHen i got up at around 7 i had a bowl of shreddies and a glass of orange juice. Then i picked at a bit of Rivita raisin and poppy seed. (54 calories in each one) I then went into the city and around 10 i had a pear. Then i got news that my great aunt is dying and my grandad is very ill and his blood sugar is low enough to put him into a coma. So my mom got a rock cake to cheer me up. I had about 3/4 of it. Then i had a banana sweet and a half and a few jelly sweets. and the rest of the rivita thing i picked at this morning and 100 calorie yogurt.. then at around 4 i had half a tin of beans and a little turkey. About a bite because it was horrible a mini muller rice for desert and a banana before i went swimming I got back at 8 and had a 60 calorie bag of veggies and a pick at a few banana sweets. Bearing in mind i've had sad news today, i've been upset and wating comfort food. I didn't have a lot though really :-/

digitalkitchenscales.net answers:

Can't help you on how many calories you should be eating, I'm still unsure of that myself, but calories are quite easy to find out. Some products have calories in the nutritional information section on the box, but most don't, however you can easily (Depending on your math skill!) calculate it yourself. 1 Calorie is approximately 4.2 Kilojoules, and all products will tell you how many kilojoules (kj) it contains. I just round down to 4 to save some effort. For example, food item has 400 Kilojoules, 400/4 = 100 calories in that food item. It's pretty simple to figure out really. The only thing is fresh food such as fruit/vegetables or things that aren't in commercial packaging will not have labels to tell you how many kj they contain which is where http://caloriecount.about.com/ comes in handy. That website has pretty much every type of food and can tell you how many calories are in it. Hope this helps and good luck!

digitalkitchenscales.net answers:

Do it by volume. 28 grams in an ounce, so you have about 3 ounces or just short of a fifth of a box (lb) If your talking about measuring 75 grams after cooking you will get significantly less. Pasta typically doubles in volume (and weight) after cooking, so you would be talking about 1/10 of a box of cooked pasta for 75 grams. Obviously these are estimates (close but still estimates). Good enough if you are measuring for a diet

Don't ask. Please help. I'm not really a kitchen type of person =P. Whenever I go on the intrenet it tries to sell me stuff =S. Thanks =]

RE: "Don't ask" / not sure what you mean. Educating yourself is your best defense against "Buying the Toy and Feeding the Pig" I'm certain you've seen the commercial! First ask yourself do you need a kitchen scale for a particular reason such as portion control for a special diet.? Or do you think you need to have one in the kitchen? Or do you just want one? Any 1 of the top 3 on this link would be an excellent choice. Just stay away from the walmart type. They are not made to hold up very well. A digital readout will be more accutate than a slide scale for the average kitchen plus work faster.
